What Happens in HIIT Classes?

HIIT stands for high intensity interval training. You alternate short bursts of hard work with brief recovery, which keeps your heart rate high and packs a lot of training into a short session. It is a time efficient way to build fitness, and every class can be adjusted to your level.

SWEAT: 30 Minute Full Body HIIT

SWEAT is our newest class: a fast paced, high energy 30 minute session designed to get your heart pumping and your whole body working, whatever your fitness level.

  • When: Tuesdays at 6pm and 6:30pm, Wednesdays at 1:30pm, Thursdays at 9:30am
  • Length: 30 minutes
  • Booking: essential. Members book through the mobile app; non-members can call or WhatsApp us

See the SWEAT class page for the latest details.

LIFT: High Intensity Strength and Conditioning

LIFT is a high intensity class with a fun atmosphere that caters for all abilities. Your instructor uses a range of equipment, including kettlebells, prowlers and battle ropes.

  • When: Wednesday evenings (45 minutes) and Saturday mornings (1 hour)
  • Price: included with Full Membership, or £12 for other memberships and non-members

Find out more on the LIFT class page.

Are HIIT Classes Good for Beginners?

Yes. You work at your own intensity, and instructors can show easier versions of any exercise. Start at a comfortable pace, focus on good form, and build up over a few weeks. If you are new to exercise or have a health condition, check with your GP first.

How Often Should You Do HIIT?

The NHS recommends at least 75 minutes of vigorous activity a week, and two or three HIIT classes in Tunbridge Wells will get you there. For most people, 2 to 3 high intensity sessions a week is plenty, with strength training or lighter days in between. HIIT is demanding, so recovery matters. Pairing it with a strength plan, like our free gym workout plans, gives you the best of both.
