EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THEACRINE SUPPLEMENT

By Brandon Pieterse

Writing this, I am sipping on an amazing latte as it’s early in the morning and I am getting in a much needed caffeine fix. I’m sure most of you reading this have either had a cup of coffee, are making a cup of coffee or are thinking about your next cup.

The reason we love coffee so much in the morning is because it wakes us up. It gives us that extra boost when we are feeling tired. We have caffeine to thank for that. Caffeine is one of the properties in coffee that gives us that energy boost and feeling of wellbeing.

However, our bodies build up a tolerance to it, meaning that we need to consume more and more each time to get the desired result.

In walks Theacrine.

Theacrine is an alkaloid that is very similar in molecular structure to caffeine and has some very unique stimulatory properties. Derived from the Chinese tea, Kucha, it is a naturally occurring substance extracted primarily from the plant, Camellia Sinensis (main pic).

Theacrine has been formulated in trademark compounds such as TeaCrine™ and TeaCor™  for use in various pre-workouts, nootropics and fat loss supplements. This is becuase Theacrine can enhance both mood and performance.

Theacrine works in a very similar way to caffeine. It helps reduce fatigue, enhances energy levels as well as increases physical performance, all while decreasing anxiety levels. It works within the body’s own metabolic system, delivering long lasting energy, increased mental clarity as well as an improvement in mood and motivation.

Now you may ask yourself, do I need both caffeine and Theacrine, or Theacrine at all for that matter? They seem to do the exact same thing, they have incredibly similar molecular structures and Theacrine is actually a little bit more expensive than caffeine?

The answer, Yes.

Caffeine vs Theacrine Molecular Comparison

Unlike caffeine, Theacrine does not cause tolerance build up or desensitization over time. So the effects of Theacrine will be exactly the same the first time you take it as the 300th time. You will not need to keep increasing the dosage to get the same effect. As well as having no tolerance build up, Theacrine does not cause a sudden drop in energy levels either.

What you get with Theacrine is a nice smooth increase in energy, enhanced concentration and a boost in focus as soon as it enters the bloodstream, which is usually 15-20 minutes after you take it.

Now for the science bit.

Theacrine works to activate the dopaminergic receptors D1 and D2. This is going to support an increase in the body’s production of dopamine. Dopamine has been shown to produce an increase in energy levels, improved mood and greater mental clarity.

Theacrine also inhibits the production of Adenosine. Adenosine is a chemical that is directly involved in the biochemical process that promotes relaxation and sedation. So, not only does Theacrine promote energy and alertness in the body, but it also inhibits relaxation and sedation, creating a perfect environment for cardiovascular and anaerobic exercise.

Theacrine has also been shown to help the body maintain a normal range of inflammation following strenuous exercise, decreasing muscle and joint discomfort/ It also acts as an antioxidant, reducing oxidative stress placed on the body during exercise.

Theacrine can be taken first thing in the morning or 15-20 minutes before exercise, although I wouldn’t recommend dunking in your digestive biscuit first thing in the morning as the taste is not so great. Theacrine in pure powder form can be mixed with waer or any other type of supplement and taken prior to working out to get the most benefit from it.

So, in conclusion, stick to a nice cup of coffee in the morning, for the digestive biscuit dunking of course, and then take full advantage of this amazing supplement pre-workout.
